Dulwich College Shanghai (DCS) recently celebrated a 100 percent pass rate for its first-ever graduating International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Class of 2009.

22 Dulwich students sat the IBDP this year with five graduates achieving a pass mark of 40 or more points. Two students, Philippa Adams and Rosalyn Morley, achieved personal scores of 42 points each. Congratulating the students on their success Mr. Paul Friend, Headmaster of Dulwich College Shanghai, said “I couldn’t be more thrilled for our inaugural graduating students. These results are outstanding. Undertaking an IBDP course requires dedication and hard work from the students with the unfaltering support and guidance from parents and teachers. I extend heartfelt congratulations to all.”dcsh-ib
Exam results in the IBDP are measured on a 45-point scale, with the worldwide average mark for students in 2008 being 30.5 points. The DCS Class of 2009 scored a 34.5 point average across the board, an impressive result for its first ever graduating IBDP students.
The latest worldwide pass rate for IBDP was 79% with a mean grade of 4.97; the pass rate at DCS was 100% with a mean grade of 5.43. This is a reflection of DCS’ commitment to providing expatriate children with the highest academic standards of education.
Describing her delight at achieving one of the top scores in the Class of 2009, Rosalyn Morley said “When the school told me the results, I could not believe it. I didn’t know what to say. I had worked very hard with the support of my parents and teachers but the exams were very tough and I did not expect I would achieve my predicted score. Now I can’t stop smiling.”
2009 graduating students have been accepted to universities in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
