dcb-new-principalMr. Neal McGowan, will join Dulwich Beijing as the new Headmaster on Monday 10th January 2011. Born, raised and educated in the town of Musselburgh, just outside Edinburgh, he is an extremely experienced leader in education, having held a number of headships in Scotland and England, as well as having worked for a period of time with the Scottish Government. A graduate of Moray House Institute of Education, Edinburgh and Edinburgh University, he started his career as a teacher of Technological Education, specialising in Engineering Science, before moving into school leadership in 1993.

When asked about his appointment as our new Headmaster, Mr. McGowan said his "strong interest in internationalism, global education and multiculturalism were big attractions in applying for the post."  These, together with his passion for high academic standards combined with the broader development of students through sport, the arts and extra-curricular activities, made Dulwich College Beijing a dream opportunity. He also said that he was excited at the prospect of leading a school that educates children and young people from the age of 1 to 18.

Mr. McGowan said he "felt honoured and privileged to have been appointed to lead such an outstanding school with world-class teachers, wonderful students and supportive parents." He intends meeting and working with the community when he arrives to agree the priorities for the school in the coming years to ensure that it remains the leader in the field and the first choice for expat parents who seek an outstanding all-round education for their children.
