dehong-the-jungle-bookDehong Chinese International School Elementary and Middle School students were proud to present their musical production of The Jungle Book from 9 to 11 January.

Based on Rudyard Kipling’s eponymous collective works and inspired by Walt Disney’s 2016 fantasy film of the same name, Dehong musical production of The Jungle Book tells a story of a girl named Kaixin. She has slipped into the jungle from the comforting arms of her mama. She finds herself greeted by the warmth of Virginia and her wolf pack. Arkela, the wise wolf leader of the pack, protects them from the fierce jaws of Shere Khan, a tiger with enormous power and strength. Shere Khan rules the jungle with menace and is obsessed with finding Kaixin, scaring other animals into helping him do this. Meanwhile, Kaixin experiences confusion with her new life. She cannot do the same things her wolf cub pack members can and longs for her Mama. Meanwhile, a friendly and lazy panda bear, Baloo and his close friend Bagheera, a panther who takes very special care in her appearance, set off in search of the child cub in an attempt to find her and reunite her with her Mama…

The support of the staff at Dehong with their creativity, ideas, talents and time in their schedules has led to a production that has come to life through their hard work. In addition, without the assistance and dedication of so many teachers and parent volunteers, a production of such high quality would be impossible. It was indeed a great opportunity for Dehong students to gather together and show their talents.
