Concordia International School Shanghai celebrated their Annual Fifth Grade American Revolutionary War Wax Museum on December 17, 2009.

ciss-wax-3sStudents prepared for 6 weeks to bring their historical figures to life. Their work began with background research to create a flip book, which was the basis for the speeches each student memorized for the day of the Wax Museum. Interesting and relevant facts were selected to create a multifaceted portrayal of their chosen person. Each student created a costume and props to add authenticity to their presentation. Puxi fabric markets were swamped with parents and children clutching pictures of Paul Revere, Betsy Ross and John Hancock. It’s not easy finding a George Washington style wig and velvet britches with brass buttons in Shanghai!

Finally the big day arrived, and parents became time travelers as they went from room to room at the Wax Museum.  Although it was a lot of work, it was also a lot of fun and all participants felt great pride in a job well done!
