CISB to Host Beijing Spelling Bee Finals

On February 28, the Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB) will host the Beijing Spelling Bee Finals. The Spelling Bee Champions from fifteen Beijing schools will compete at CISB and the five finalists will represent Beijing at the China finals taking place in Shanghai on March 20th. cisb-spelling-sThe Champion of this year’s Spelling Bee will go to Washington DC to compete in the USA National Spelling Bee on May 29th, 2010. The Spelling Bee School Champion from CISB for this year is Ili Kamalrouzaman.

The "Spelling Bee" aims to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, learn spelling and vocabulary concepts, and develop correct word usage that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Last year, 11 million students from 275 countries and regions around the world participated in this competition. In 2009, for the 82nd Annual Spelling Bee, Community Center Shanghai (CCS) sent its regional champion to represent China in the final competition for the first time in history. CCS has been approved by E.W Scripps to be the organizer of the China Regional Spelling Bee.
