Christmas Celebrations at Harrow Shanghai
Harrow International School Shanghai’s first Christmas concert, held on Thursday, 15 December, was a special event for everyone involved. The first floor lobby was converted into a concert hall to accommodate the large number of guests who attended. The concert was a celebration of the entire Harrow community and featured performances from every pupil in the school. The Early Years pupils looked very festive, dressed in Santa hats, antlers and snowflakes, to perform their songs celebrating Christmas trees and Santa. Years 1 and 2 performed two Hanukkah songs, whilst Year 5 and the Prep and Senior School took inspiration from popular Disney Christmas films, with songs from Frozen and A Nightmare Before Christmas. There were also instrumental performances from the Key Stage 1 percussion groups, the Lower School String Ensemble, the Key Stage 2 recorder groups and the Prep and Senior School Wind Band. Alongside the music performances, the Prep and Senior School pupils presented several drama scenes, retelling Charles Dicken’s classic story A Christmas Carol. Each part of the story was adapted and performed by a different year group, with the final scene performed by all the pupils together. To show their versatility to the parents and pupils, several talented members of the Harrow staff gave a lively performance of the traditional English carol The Twelve Days of Christmas. The finale of the concert was a rousing performance of Jingle Bells, featuring every pupil in the school.
