Care for Children School is very excited to announce the start of their Early Intervention Class for students aged 2-5 years on September 6, 2010. The class will run from 8:30 to 12:00 every day, Monday through Friday.

Child development research has demonstrated that the rate of human learning and development is most rapid during the preschool years. Research has also shown that the timing of planned interventions to address any developmental delays can be vitally important.

CFC EI Class is seen to be a transitional class, offering students with some delays a gradual and individual introduction to formal schooling. It is a semi-structured and play-based class, using the English Curriculum: Early Years Foundational Stage. All key learning areas of the curriculum will be addressed but individualized for the age and ability of each student.

Unlike other pre-K programs, there will also be opportunities for each student to attend therapy sessions (speech, physio, OT) as part of their school schedule. The class has a small number of students, with a high teacher to student ratio.

Just as with other early education schools, parents are encouraged to assist their child with the routine of unpacking and settling into the class before then leaving them at school. The students will be encouraged to use a class timetable that invites them to complete a number of set learning tasks, social tasks, and play tasks throughout the school day.

The teacher assigned to this class is a qualified teacher with experience in teaching students with special needs. She will work alongside the team of professionals at the CFC Clinic and the Early Intervention Class will have access to the exceptional school facilities of the Centre in Beijing Riviera.

Progression from this Early Intervention class could result in integration into a mainstream class, a dual program or a more full time program at the Care for Children School.
