BSB Hosts 2nd Annual Readathon

bsb-readathon-sReading was placed centre stage at the British School of Beijing this November with the second annual Readathon week. The aim of the Readathon was simple: for students at the school to read as much as possible, whilst also raising money for local charities.

The event took place from November 1st to 7th, during which students were encouraged to use their free time for reading and recording their reading hours. There was a great buzz as students battled it out for the title of best reader and form groups rallied together to amass the highest reading hours. This year’s addition of ‘drop everything and read’ to the Readathon week proved successful as students were challenged to stop whatever they were doing and pick up a book. This made for some interesting scenes, especially during an inter-house soccer match.

At the end of the week, the secondary students had clocked up an impressive 1,504 hours, raising 14,708 RMB for local charities. This success was not just down to the top readers, some of whom read for more than 30 hours during the week, but due to the participation of each and every member of the school community.
