British School of Beijing (BSB) students got their minds into shape recently when the school held its very first charitable Readathon.bsb-readathon-s

The event was a marathon-like event in which every single BSB secondary student was encouraged to pledge to read as much as possible over a week-long period in order to raise money for Yimin Migrant School.

To help in this celebration of reading, renowned British children’s author, Meg Harper, visited the school to share her enthusiasm, love of books and writing tips with the students.

During the week, hundreds of hours of reading were amassed with many students reading more than 20 hours. Not only did those reading hours go towards helping less fortunate local students, but they benefited BSB students by getting their minds in shape.

In total, BSB’s first Readathon raised more than 10,000 RMB, which will go towards purchasing some much-needed musical equipment for local school children.
