BISS courtyard__HO5 Work has been completed on the landscaping of British International School Shanghai Nanxiang campus main courtyard, a project guided by the award-winning Australian architect Tim Schwager. The inspirational design has at its heart a parabola, or sail, which serves both to break up the rigid lines of the courtyard, and acts as a source of shade and means of cooling the building in the summer. The new courtyard creates a space where children can have fun while appreciating their surroundings. There is also a shaded waiting area, while a new art room will open on to the deck at the rear. This also completes an ambitious building program of the school: The new courtyard accompanies the exceptional music, art & science facilities, the spacious library and expansive grounds & sports fields.
