This challenge involved students performing on buckets and other household objects and recording their music in a location that represented their community.

Year 8 students decided to be ambitious with this challenge and spend the day making music around the city. They started their day with a trip on the metro, which had the local commuters cheering and clapping along as the students livened up their journey with their cross rhythms and ensemble playing.

Next, the group walked down to the Bund to take a few shots with the famous Shanghai skyline in view. Crowds instantly gathered around the students, giving the chance to enjoy the limelight and experience the attention that famous musicians would get. The students then spent the afternoon in Fuxing Park, performing in different locations throughout the park, including a waterfall, statue, fountain and pagoda. The bucket lids even came in handy when the students started a spontaneous game of Frisbee.

As for the final part of the challenge, the students had to think of inventive ways to put their buckets to use to benefit their local community. Year 8 decided to plant small trees in some of their buckets around school and donate another half to children at The Huaxin Rehabilitation and Education Centre for Disabled Children.
