In the week of October 13, Beijing BISS International School hosted the first ever joint accreditation and evaluation visit by 17 representatives from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (U.S.-based WASC), the Council of International Schools (CIS-International), the National Centre for Curriculum and Textbooks (NCCT-China) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) for the Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP) and the Diploma Program (DP).

The team visit was the culmination of an intensive self-study process where the school has analyzed all aspects of its curriculum and operation and compared these with the standards of each of the above organizations.

The accreditation process is internationally recognized as an excellent means of quality assurance for international schools and the IB evaluation process is a measure of the school’s success in providing a high quality IB curriculum.

The report of the accreditation, in conjunction with BISS’s strategic plan, is believed to provide the school with a road map to an even better school and hence a better teaching and learning environment.
