BISS Annual Art Auction a Resounding Success

On March 23rd, the British International School Shanghai, Pudong Campus, successfully held its annual parent-arranged Art Auction, featuring creations by each class across the year groups from Nursery to Year 13.

“Art and the creative process behind it has a special place at our school, as a critically important factor in the development of rounded students", highlighted the school’s Head Master, Dr. Terry Creissen, adding: "Events like this tie parents, students, teachers and the school much closer together, strengthening our community.”

During the three-hour action-packed auction, parents and teachers placed their bids for the students’ art, beating the turnover of the 2011 auction, while enjoying finger-food and refreshments. This excellent result enables the school’s art teachers to expand the range of their activities including field trips and visiting artists.

In keeping with the school’s ethos “Helping Others to Be the Best They Can Be,” selected art pieces were sold through a “silent auction,” and the income raised was donated to charity.
