Saturday 12 October saw the biggest football event ever held at Dulwich College Suzhou with the 7th Annual Junior Football Tournament. Taking part were 39 teams from 8 schools involving over 400 students. There was a real international flair to the event too this year with teams from Dulwich College Seoul and the Suzhou Japanese School making their debut.

The students and teachers from Dulwich College Seoul arrived a couple of days before the tournament and stayed in Alleyn House, the new boarding facility at Dulwich College Suzhou. As well as getting in some training for the big event they joined Dulwich College Suzhou students in some of their classes. “Since returning from the event the girls and boys have not stopped talking about how much fun they had in Suzhou,” said Ben Ward, PE Teacher and ECA Coordinator at Dulwich College Seoul.

Held across three different sites within the school campus, the tournament reflected the great community spirit at the College. There was a real carnival atmosphere with parents and supporters enthusiastically cheering on the teams throughout the day. Many members of staff from across the College gave their time to help make sure the event ran smoothly and they were supported by a number of students, who demonstrated great maturity taking on the responsibilities of officials, scorers, time keepers and coaches.

The tournament was a huge success. Students left with smiles on their faces after sharing their experiences of the day with new friends, all very proud to have represented their school in such an event.
