bcis-art-exhibition-seasonOn 16 October, Beijing City International School (BCIS) Grade 11 Visual Arts students showcased pieces from their first unit of work entitled Whatever You Want. Teachers, parents and students from the community came to listen to the artists introduce and explain their work, their motivations and inspirations behind each piece. Artworks included drawings, paintings, sculpture and video pieces, demonstrating a huge variety of artistic ability across a full range of media. This eclectic collection of artworks is a real testament to the creativity of BCIS students.

Not to be outdone, the next day was the turn of the Elementary School to display their latest pieces. As part of their Unit of Inquiry (UOI) “Who We Are,” students have been learning about self-portraits, and have created their very own to share with the whole school community. The finished works now hang in various locations around the Elementary School buildings for parents and fellow classmates to enjoy as they walk around. A small exhibition for parents was also held on 28 October.

Visual Art is an important part of learning at BCIS. Part of being an IB learner is learning to express oneself in a wide variety of ways, and Visual Art is a wonderful channel for that expression to manifest through. Many congratulations to all the student artists for their wonderful works.
